Meet the Team

Dr. Joanna Hurd received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Missouri- Kansas City (UMKC), completed her residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry, and graduated from dental school at UMKC in 2005. After studying psychology and chemistry at the University of Puget Sound as an undergraduate, Dr. Francis Hurd also graduated from dental school at UMKC in 2005. He then spent a year working at Swope Park Health Services.

Together in 2006, they moved to the Boulder, CO area to work for Dental Aid, a non-profit organization that provides dental services to underprivileged families. After spending three wonderful years in the Rockies, the Hurds decided to move back to Kansas City to be closer to family, after the birth of their first daughter, Lucy.

Once back in Joanna's hometown, both doctors took over individual practices in Lee's Summit and Blue Springs. They have been very fortunate to maintain excellent relationships with the previous owners and returning patients. After over 5 years of practicing dentistry and 2 twin boys later, they decided to take a leap of faith and start working every day together at one location in Lee's Summit. Both doctors have enjoyed becoming an actual family practice and hope to continue providing services for a long time to come. In their free time, Joanna and Francis love spending time with their 3 children, attending Royals' games, swim meets, and going fishing.
